Tim Fail joined Collins Wealth Management in 2020 after a 17-year career as a hospital financial analyst. Now, he helps the firm’s clients improve their financial health.
Investing has always been a passion of his. Even in college, Tim had an investment account and recalls one class in which a professor gave the students paper money for an investing exercise, stating that the highest return would get a grade even if they never took a test that semester because it would demonstrate an understanding of investing. And, yes, he earned the highest return.
After graduating from the University of Mount Olive with a degree in business administration, Tim began his professional career at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro – the same hospital where he was born – where he worked for 17 years and rose to the position of senior financial analyst.
During his many years at the hospital, in addition to advancing in the knowledge of
corporate finances in a tightly regulated industry, he and a coworker developed software scripts that helped hospitals automate the input of manual data. It became quite a successful venture, with his hospital and numerous hospitals in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Canada utilizing the software. But after his cofounder passed away, Tim decided to sell the company, which is now operated by Summit Healthcare.
Raised in a Christian home and having a solid work ethic modeled by his parents, Tim views money as something that is to be stewarded well. His focus at Collins Wealth Management is helping clients by practicing the same core values and work ethic that were instilled in him.
“So many people think wealth means money. But it is so much more than money,” said Tim. “It’s treating people well and building lasting relationships. That’s part of a great life portfolio.”
Tim enjoys discussing the psychology of wealth with clients and learning what they want their money to do for them. “I consider it an honor to help people through their financial journey, knowing they are trusting me to be a part of it.”
A native of Goldsboro, Tim and his wife, Stacie, live in Goldsboro with their daughters, Kannyn and Jayde, and their yellow lab, Rubee Joe. They are active in Pike’s Crossroads Pentecostal Holiness church in Pikeville and enjoy water activities, whether at the beach or boating on nearby North Carolina lakes. Tim also enjoys golf, tennis and coaches his daughters’ softball teams.
